Tioxide is seeking an experienced and influential Health & Safety Lead to join our Greatham site leadership team. This is a key role responsible for driving health and safety excellence across a complex Upper Tier COMAH chemical manufacturing facility, helping to create a world-class behavioural safety culture while ensuring compliance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
Reporting to the EHSQ & Technical Manager, you will provide professional health and safety leadership across the site, working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and other key stakeholders to embed best practice and deliver meaningful safety performance improvements.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading the site's health and safety strategy and culture improvement programme.
- Driving behavioural safety initiatives to achieve industry-leading standards.
- Ensuring compliance with UK health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Developing, reviewing and implementing health and safety policies, procedures and guidance.
- Leading incident investigations, root cause analysis and learning reviews.
- Managing health, wellbeing, occupational safety and industrial hygiene programmes.
- Overseeing emergency response and crisis management preparedness.
- Developing site auditing and workforce engagement processes.
- Building strong relationships with the HSE and other external stakeholders.
- Supporting site incident management as an EHS Duty Manager and member of the Major Emergency Tactical Team.
About You
We’re looking for a passionate health and safety professional who can influence at every level of the organisation and drive positive cultural change.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent).
- Degree or equivalent knowledge in a relevant technical discipline.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in a health and safety leadership role within the process industries.
- Experience working in a high-hazard environment, ideally an Upper Tier COMAH site.
- Proven success in delivering behavioural safety and culture change programmes.
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience engaging with regulatory authorities, including the HSE.
Desirable
- Chemical, petrochemical or manufacturing industry experience.
- Experience managing EHS teams.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 and associated management systems.
- Experience in emergency response, crisis management and occupational hygiene programmes.
