Support safety, occupational health and industrial hygiene across a major manufacturing site. Wolviston Management Services is proud to be working in partnership with Tioxide to recruit an EHS Officer for their Greatham site.

This is a key site-based safety role where you will provide practical occupational safety and industrial hygiene advice and support across the site. You will help strengthen safety culture, support contractors and site teams, manage EHS systems and contribute to continuous improvement in safety performance.

You will also support incident response and investigation, internal and external audits, awareness campaigns, occupational hygiene controls and the site’s behavioural safety process.

What you’ll be doing

  • Support the development and ongoing effectiveness of the site’s behavioural safety process.
  • Develop leading KPIs to help measure safety culture and behavioural safety performance.
  • Develop and maintain occupational safety and industrial hygiene management systems.
  • Support site teams with the practical implementation of safety and hygiene processes.
  • Plan and deliver EHS awareness campaigns to raise standards across the site.
  • Support contractor safety leadership through field engagement, audits and regular contractor safety meetings.
  • Participate in safety improvement steering teams and update relevant safety procedures.
  • Manage the internal audit process and report on overdue audits and actions.
  • Assist with external audits supporting safety, quality and energy management systems.
  • Manage LEV inspections and closure of remedial actions.
  • Manage HAVS equipment registers and associated risk assessments.
  • Support the trial and approval of site PPE.
  • Manage maintenance and calibration of industrial hygiene testing equipment.
  • Manage COSHH risk assessments.
  • Lead, facilitate and support incident response and investigation activity.
  • Act as EHS Duty Manager and support the Major Emergency Tactical Team when required.

Candidate requirements

  • NEBOSH Certificate, or equivalent safety knowledge and experience.
  • Further technical or vocational education, such as HND-level knowledge, would be welcomed.
  • BOHS industrial hygiene qualifications, or equivalent knowledge relevant to chemical or industrial environments.
  • Practical experience implementing occupational safety and industrial hygiene best practice.
  • Experience supporting safety culture, contractor safety, audits, investigations or EHS campaigns.
  • Knowledge of COSHH, LEV, HAVS, PPE, risk assessments and incident investigation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence engaging, coaching and influencing people on site.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with employees, contractors and managers.
  • A visible, practical and proactive approach to safety.
  • A commitment to inclusion, compliance, continuous improvement and values-led behaviours.
