Wolviston Management Services is supporting the appointment of an experienced Electrical Supervisor to lead electrical maintenance activities within a high-hazard industrial environment. The Electrical Supervisor will be responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant execution of planned and reactive electrical maintenance activities, ensuring the reliability and integrity of site electrical systems and assets. The role provides frontline leadership to electrical technicians and contractors while supporting operational, maintenance and project objectives across the facility. This position requires a strong technical background in electrical engineering, excellent leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to safety, continuous improvement and asset performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety, Compliance & Governance
- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure all work is executed in accordance with company policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
- Actively promote compliance with relevant electrical standards, industry regulations and best practice.
- Prepare, review and approve Risk Assessments, Method Statements and other safe systems of work documentation.
- Undertake electrical isolations and issue isolation certificates in accordance with Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
- Act as Permit Originator for electrical activities and ensure permit requests are submitted in a timely manner.
- Investigate incidents, identify corrective actions and ensure appropriate close-out within company reporting systems.
- Participate in audits, safety observations, HAZOP reviews and emergency response activities as required.
- Maintenance Leadership
- Lead and coordinate day-to-day activities of Electrical Technicians and specialist contractors.
- Ensure all planned and reactive maintenance activities are appropriately prioritised, resourced and completed safely and efficiently.
- Monitor maintenance performance and ensure all work is accurately recorded within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Develop maintenance procedures, technical instructions and work scopes to support operational reliability.
- Manage contractor performance and ensure compliance with site standards and expectations.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving asset reliability, reducing downtime and optimising maintenance delivery.
- Technical Support & Asset Reliability
- Provide technical leadership and specialist electrical engineering support to operations, maintenance and project teams.
- Lead fault-finding and troubleshooting activities across electrical distribution and control systems.
- Identify recurring equipment failures and reliability concerns, recommending repair, replacement or redesign solutions where appropriate.
- Support maintenance and inspection programmes covering:
- MCCs (Motor Control Centres)
- Hazardous Area Equipment
- Earthing, Bonding and Lightning Protection Systems
- Electrical Heat Tracing Systems
- Fixed Wiring and Distribution Boards
- Motors and Drives
- Fire Pump Systems
- Lighting Systems
- Generators and UPS Systems
- Access Control and Site Security Systems
- Power Distribution Infrastructure
- Maintenance Execution
- Coordinate and oversee planned maintenance activities including:
- Electrical inspections and testing
- RCD testing
- Infrared and condition monitoring activities
- Cause and Effect testing
- Motor inspections and rotation checks
- Safety-critical equipment maintenance
- Hazardous area inspections
- Contractor-led electrical inspections and testing programmes
- Support reactive maintenance activities including:
- Fault diagnosis and rectification
- MCC fault investigation
- Earth fault identification
- Motor repairs and replacements
- Electrical component upgrades
- Lighting replacements and upgrades
- Minor panel modifications
- Hazardous area remedial works
- Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Provide technical input into engineering projects from concept through to commissioning.
- Support the development of project scopes, specifications and procurement activities.
- Assist with the management of electrical spares and critical equipment inventories.
- Ensure engineering documentation and drawings are updated and maintained accurately.
- Contribute to business improvement initiatives that enhance safety, performance and reliability.
- Operational Support
- Participate in the site engineering on-call rota.
- Support Operational Technology (OT) and Instrumentation teams where required.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to team members.
- Ensure all mandatory and role-specific training requirements are completed and maintained.
Qualifications & Experience
- Essential
- BTEC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, or completion of a recognised electrical apprenticeship.
- Previous experience in an Electrical Supervisor or Senior Electrical Technician role.
- Minimum 5 years' experience within petrochemical, chemical, oil & gas, energy or other high-hazard process industries.
- Current BS7671 qualification (latest edition).
- COMPEX Ex01-Ex04 certified.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance management systems and planned maintenance methodologies.
- Demonstrable experience leading maintenance teams and managing contractors.
- Experience of electrical fault finding, troubleshooting and maintenance planning.
- Desirable
- Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) awareness.
- High Voltage awareness.
- IPAF 3A & 3B certification.
- PASMA certification.
- Working at Height training.
- Asbestos Awareness certification.
