Responsible Structural / Civil Engineer at a major manufacturing site.

This is a key engineering role where you will help ensure civil and structural assets are designed, installed, commissioned, maintained, inspected and operated in line with UK legislation, Greatham engineering standards and recognised best practice.

You will lead civil and structural asset life planning, manage inspection and repair activity, support capital projects and act as the technical interface with specialist suppliers, inspection companies and competent authorities.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop and deliver the site asset life strategy for civil and structural assets.
  • Ensure civil and structural risks are identified, managed and controlled.
  • Support regulatory compliance and asset availability for production.
  • Assist the Responsible Mechanical Engineer with technical responses to the HSE and Environment Agency.
  • Act as the technical interface for civil and structural matters with specialist suppliers and inspection companies.
  • Ensure assets are maintained, inspected, repaired and operated in line with legislation, standards and best practice.
  • Select competent civil and structural companies to work on site.
  • Organise inspections, interpret inspection reports, prioritise repairs and produce repair tender documents.
  • Manage contractors on site to ensure work is completed safely and to a high standard.
  • Maintain inspection records and documentation for critical infrastructure.
  • Manage the site infrastructure revenue and CAPEX budget.
  • Provide civil and structural engineering support to capital projects.
  • Own relevant engineering procedures covering structures, pipebridges, ground and groundwater protection, excavations and asbestos.
  • Promote a positive, values-led culture focused on safety, compliance and engineering best practice.

Candidate requirements:

  • A degree, or equivalent knowledge, in civil or structural engineering.
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution.
  • Experience in chemical, process, manufacturing, infrastructure or another high-hazard environment.
  • Experience managing civil or structural asset integrity, inspections, repairs or infrastructure programmes.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, influencing and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent planning, organisation and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • A strong focus on high standards, compliance and safe working.
  • Chartered Engineer status would be welcomed.
  • Programme or project management experience in an asset integrity environment would be beneficial.
