Wolviston Management Services are proud to be supporting a growing precision engineering business in Newton Aycliffe, seeking a multi-skilled CAD & CNC Machinist to join their dynamic team.
This role blends technical CAD capabilities with practical CNC machining expertise, offering the opportunity to work on bespoke steel and aluminium moulds, profiles, and specialist components. You’ll take ownership of parts from design and development through to manufacture and inspection.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings
- Use AutoCAD or equivalent software such as Fusion 360 or Delcam to design components
- Create and modify engineering drawings for steel/aluminium moulds, profiles, diameters, contours and detailed parts
- Develop and maintain CAD templates for repeat or standardised work
- Work confidently in both metric and imperial measurements
- Utilise and manage CAD post-processors to generate machine-ready programs
- Reverse engineer physical parts – accurately drawing and sending information to the post-processor
- Operate CNC lathes and/or machining centres, performing setup, programming and final checks
- Collaborate with production, design, and tooling teams to ensure precision and efficiency
What We’re Looking For
- Strong CAD experience (AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Delcam or similar)
- Hands-on CNC machining skills – including setting and operating lathes or machining centres
- Ability to reverse engineer components and develop technical drawings from physical parts
- Familiarity with machining processes for moulds and tooling
- Knowledge of CAD post-processing for CNC integration
- Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and proactive approach
- NVQ Level 3, HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Toolmaking or related field
