Wolviston Management Services is delighted to be supporting our client with the recruitment of a High Pressure Maintenance First Line Manager (FLM) for their Teesside manufacturing operations. This is an excellent permanent opportunity for an experienced engineering maintenance professional and people leader to take responsibility for a specialist High Pressure Maintenance team within a major petrochemical manufacturing environment.

The Role

You will lead and develop a team of High Pressure Maintenance Specialists responsible for the safe, efficient and high-quality maintenance and refurbishment of critical equipment and spares supporting the site's manufacturing operations. With a particular focus on the plant and specialist high-pressure equipment, you will combine hands-on technical understanding with team leadership, maintenance planning, quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, developing and managing a specialist maintenance team
  • Providing first-line technical support and day-to-day operational leadership
  • Managing maintenance workshop and equipment storage facilities
  • Overseeing the refurbishment of critical spares and high-pressure equipment
  • Planning and coordinating maintenance events, inspections and equipment refurbishment
  • Managing critical spares and associated maintenance activities through SAP/CMMSE
  • Ensuring robust QA/QC standards across maintenance and refurbishment activities
  • Supervising internal teams, contractors and third-party specialist vendors
  • Supporting machinery care and reliability programmes
  • Participating in root cause analysis and reliability investigations
  • Supporting the management of CAPEX associated with high-value critical spares
  • Driving improvements across safety, quality, cost, productivity and maintenance performance
  • Ensuring technicians remain appropriately trained and competent
  • Supporting urgent plant requirements and breakdown situations when required

The position carries significant responsibility for the quality and assurance of high-pressure and critical equipment, including maintaining appropriate documentation and ensuring equipment refurbishment meets the required tolerances and specifications.

About You

We're looking for an experienced engineering professional who combines strong maintenance knowledge with proven leadership capability. Ideally, you will have:

  • A relevant technical qualification - HNC or above preferred
  • Experience within the petrochemical, chemical, process or similar heavy industrial sector
  • Previous first-line management, supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Experience leading small technical or engineering teams
  • Strong understanding of engineering maintenance and reliability
  • Experience working to high QA/QC and safety standards
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across Operations, Engineering, contractors and specialist suppliers
  • Experience with SAP or similar maintenance management systems would be advantageous
  • A proactive and flexible approach, including the ability to support urgent plant requirements when necessary
