We are seeking an experienced and motivated HVAC Design Engineer to join our clients growing engineering team based in Teesside. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development and delivery of HVAC systems across a range of commercial, industrial and process sector projects. Working closely with project managers, clients and multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will play a key role in producing innovative, efficient and compliant HVAC solutions from concept through to detailed design and construction support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design HVAC systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning and associated mechanical services.
  • Produce detailed calculations, specifications, layouts and design drawings.
  • Develop equipment schedules and select appropriate HVAC plant and components.
  • Prepare technical reports, design documentation and tender packages.
  • Ensure designs comply with current UK regulations, industry standards and client requirements.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders throughout project delivery.
  • Conduct site surveys and attend project meetings as required.
  • Support commissioning activities and provide technical assistance during installation phases.
  • Review and approve subcontractor and supplier technical submissions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and engineering best practices within the business.

Requirements

Essential

  • Degree or HNC/HND qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in HVAC design within industrial, commercial or building services environments.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC principles, system selection and design calculations.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and relevant HVAC design software.
  • Knowledge of UK Building Regulations, CIBSE standards and relevant industry legislation.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional accreditation.
  • Experience with Revit and BIM environments.
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency, sustainability and low-carbon technologies.
  • Experience working on pharmaceutical, manufacturing, energy or process industry projects.
  • Familiarity with BREEAM and net-zero design principles.
