Lead workshop, refurbishment and stores activity at a major UK manufacturing site. We are recruiting for an experienced Workshop Lead to join a major chemical/process manufacturing site in Greatham. The plant is entering an exciting new stage, with renewed focus on engineering support, equipment reliability, spares availability, refurbishment quality and safe production. This is a key leadership role where you will lead the onsite workshop, equipment refurbishment team and equipment/materials stores facilities.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead onsite workshop, repair and refurbishment activity.
  • Oversee off-plant equipment overhauls and refurbishments.
  • Ensure repair priorities align with plant operational needs.
  • Maintain quality assurance and quality control standards for workshop repairs.
  • Promote a right-first-time approach to repair and refurbishment work.
  • Manage external service providers and outsourced overhaul activity.
  • Track offsite refurbishments, including cost, quality, delivery and operational impact.
  • Lead onsite stores, consumables, replacement equipment and critical spares.
  • Oversee work order kitting to support efficient maintenance delivery.
  • Manage workshop and stores resources, budgets, strategy and team performance.
  • Support Management of Change requirements linked to materials, equipment or technical specifications.

What we're looking for:

  • A degree in an engineering discipline, or equivalent engineering/manufacturing experience.
  • 8+ years industrial experience in manufacturing, engineering or maintenance.
  • Experience leading workshop, maintenance, refurbishment, stores, repair or engineering support teams.
  • Experience managing equipment overhaul, refurbishment or repair activity.
  • Understanding of quality assurance and control in an engineering or maintenance environment.
  • Experience working with external service providers, suppliers or outsourced engineering services.
  • Strong resource, budget and performance management capability.
  • The ability to lead, motivate, performance manage and develop team members.
  • A clear commitment to safe working, compliance, continuous improvement and high engineering standards.

Useful experience:

  • It would be beneficial if you have experience of chemical, process, high-hazard or Upper Tier COMAH manufacturing environments.
  • Managing onsite stores, spares, consumables or engineering materials.
  • Overseeing work order kitting processes.
  • Controlling offsite refurbishments or outsourced overhauls.
  • Developing workshop, stores, maintenance or E&I strategies.
  • Applying Management of Change to materials, equipment or technical specification changes.
  • Working with purchasing teams to support spares availability and supplier performance.
  • Identifying equipment improvement opportunities with engineering teams.
