Lead civil and structural asset integrity at a major UK manufacturing site. We are recruiting for an experienced Structural / Civil Engineer to join a major chemical / process manufacturing site in Greatham. The plant is entering an exciting new stage, with renewed focus on asset integrity, infrastructure reliability, engineering standards and safe production. This is a key technical role where you will help ensure civil and structural assets are inspected, maintained, repaired and operated in line with UK legislation, site engineering standards and recognised best practice.
What you'll be doing:
- Develop and deliver the site asset life strategy for civil and structural assets.
- Ensure civil and structural risks are identified, managed and controlled.
- Organise inspections, interpret reports and prioritise repairs.
- Produce repair tender documentation.
- Select and manage competent civil and structural contractors.
- Ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
- Maintain inspection records and documentation for critical infrastructure.
- Manage infrastructure revenue and capital expenditure budgets.
- Support capital projects and long-term infrastructure planning.
- Act as the technical interface with specialist suppliers, inspection companies and internal stakeholders.
What we're looking for:
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Membership of a relevant professional institution.
- 5+ years experience in chemical, process, manufacturing or another high-hazard environment.
- Experience working with Upper Tier COMAH assets would be beneficial.
- Strong knowledge of civil and structural asset integrity, inspection, maintenance and repair.
- Understanding of UK legislation, engineering standards and recognised best practice.
- Strong organisation, planning and time management skills.
- The ability to influence, negotiate and resolve issues effectively.
- A clear commitment to safe engineering practice, compliance and high standards.
Useful experience:
- Chartered Engineer status.
- Programme or project management in an asset integrity environment.
- Supporting HSE, Environment Agency or Competent Authority matters.
- Managing infrastructure revenue or CAPEX budgets.
- Supporting capital projects from a civil and structural perspective.
- Engineering procedures covering structures, pipebridges, excavations, ground protection or asbestos management.
