Lead financial control at a major UK manufacturing site. We are recruiting for an Assistant Site Finance Controller to join a major chemical/process manufacturing site in Greatham. The plant is entering an exciting new stage, with renewed focus on financial control, cost performance, working capital, forecasting and operational improvement. This is a key finance role where you will lead reporting, cost control, stock valuation, reconciliations, forecasting and financial governance across a complex manufacturing site.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.
  • Prepare clear analysis, reconciliations and explanations for site results.
  • Lead site cost control, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Maintain inventory valuation, stock reconciliations and working capital control.
  • Organise physical stock checks in line with corporate controls.
  • Analyse site performance and provide insight to operational stakeholders.
  • Lead balance sheet reconciliations and internal control evidence.
  • Manage audit requirements and financial compliance activity.
  • Oversee purchase-to-pay processes, including purchase requisitions, service entries and invoice queries.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, reporting accuracy and cost visibility.
  • Provide financial leadership and guidance to site stakeholders.

What we're looking for:

  • To be a qualified or part-qualified accountant working towards CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent.
  • Experience in finance, accounting, site finance, cost accounting or financial control.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, forecasting and cost control.
  • Experience supporting month-end, quarter-end or year-end reporting.
  • Good knowledge of balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls.
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to explain variances clearly.
  • The ability to work accurately under pressure and meet reporting deadlines.
  • Good communication skills with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail, integrity and a proactive approach.

Useful experience:

  • It would be beneficial if you have experience of manufacturing, process, chemical, engineering or industrial environments.
  • Product costing, stock valuation, inventory control or working capital reporting.
  • SAP or another ERP system.
  • Internal or external audit support.
  • Purchase-to-pay processes.
  • Direct and indirect manufacturing costs.
  • Working with operational teams to support cost control and forecasting.
