Lead energy procurement and sustainable sourcing at a major UK manufacturing site We are recruiting for an experienced Procurement Specialist to join a major chemical / process manufacturing site in Greatham.

The plant is entering an exciting new stage, with renewed focus on commercial control, supplier performance, energy strategy, sustainability and security of supply .

This is a key procurement role where you will lead commercial sourcing activity across allocated categories, with a core focus on energy, utilities, emission allowances and renewable energy solutions .

What youll be doing You will: Develop and deliver procurement strategies using market intelligence and supplier insight.

Lead sourcing, tendering, negotiation and contract award activity.

Deliver measurable cost savings, cost avoidance and value improvement.

Lead procurement of electricity, natural gas and associated services .

Develop sourcing strategies, including fixed, indexed, blended and other commercial models .

Monitor energy markets, pricing trends and regulatory developments.

Manage energy suppliers, brokers and intermediaries.

Identify renewable and low-carbon energy solutions, including green electricity contracts, PPAs, biomethane and solar .

Support energy budgeting and forecasting through cost modelling and consumption analysis.

Manage supplier performance using structured scorecards.

Support carbon reduction and sustainability strategies.

Maintain strong governance, documentation and audit trails.

What were looking for You will need: 5+ years experience in procurement, sourcing or supply chain.

Experience negotiating in commercially complex or volatile markets.

Strong experience in sourcing strategy, tendering and contract implementation.

Good understanding of supplier management, category management and total cost of ownership.

Experience or strong understanding of energy procurement, utilities or energy market dynamics .

Strong analytical skills, including cost modelling, data analysis and market evaluation.

The ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across multiple functions.

Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance cost, risk, compliance and operational needs.

Useful experience It would be beneficial if you have experience of: Energy procurement, including power, gas or renewable energy sourcing .

Energy-related mechanisms such as CCL, EII, NCC or CPS .

Renewable solutions such as Power Purchase Agreements, biomethane or on-site generation .

Broader procurement across indirect spend, logistics or supply chain services.

Working with brokers, intermediaries or complex supplier markets.

Carbon reduction, energy efficiency or sustainability programmes.

Procurement within manufacturing, chemical, process, industrial or energy-intensive environments.
