Help improve reliability at a major UK manufacturing site. We are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a major chemical/process manufacturing site in Greatham. The plant is entering an exciting new stage, with renewed focus on engineering capability, plant reliability, asset performance and safe production. This is a key technical role where you will provide mechanical engineering support to plant teams, improve reliability, support planned maintenance and outages, and contribute to long-term asset integrity.

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide technical mechanical engineering support to plant teams.
  • Troubleshoot plant issues and support technical investigations.
  • Specify mechanical equipment and pressure system repairs.
  • Support planned maintenance events, outages and emergent work.
  • Identify and deliver reliability improvement opportunities.
  • Provide mechanical input to safety reviews, risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Maintain and update mechanical asset life plans.
  • Assess plant modifications and help manage engineering risk.
  • Support compliance with site engineering standards and best practice.
  • Work with Production, Engineering, Technical, Maintenance and specialist service providers.

What we're looking for:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer status, or to be actively working towards it.
  • 5+ years experience in an Upper Tier COMAH, chemical, manufacturing or process environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment, pressure systems and plant reliability.
  • Experience supporting troubleshooting, planned maintenance, outages and emergent work.
  • Experience contributing to safety reviews, risk assessments, incident investigations and engineering change assessments.
  • Manufacturing operational experience, including improvement activity and delivery of measurable business benefits.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and influencing skills.
