Job Description

Lead engineering performance across a major UK manufacturing site We are recruiting for an experienced Area Engineering Manager to lead engineering activity across a major chemical / process manufacturing site in Greatham.

The plant is entering an exciting new stage, with renewed focus on engineering leadership, asset reliability, statutory compliance and continuous improvement .

This is a key leadership role where you will manage Mechanical, Electrical and Instrument engineering teams, drive asset availability and ensure plant and equipment are maintained in line with statutory, site, corporate and recognised engineering standards.

What youll be doing You will: Lead engineering management across manufacturing assets.

Ensure compliance with statutory obligations, including PSSR and safety-critical systems.

Lead Mechanical, Electrical and Instrument engineering teams.

Oversee technical investigations, failure analysis and incident investigations.

Develop and maintain asset maintenance strategies.

Drive reliability improvement, loss reduction and continuous improvement activity.

Use reliability data and engineering insight to reduce downtime.

Engage and manage specialist contractors for complex repairs and modifications.

Ensure suitable technical specifications are produced to support effective planning and scheduling.

Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Resource Management and specialist service providers.

Lead, influence, performance manage and develop engineering team members.

What were looking for You will need: A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrument Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.

Chartered Engineer status.5+ years engineering leadership experience in an Upper Tier COMAH, chemical, process or heavy manufacturing environment.

Strong understanding of statutory engineering compliance, including PSSR and safety-critical systems.

Experience developing and managing asset maintenance strategies.

Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop engineering teams.

Strong technical problem-solving skills, including failure analysis, incident investigation and reliability improvement.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Experience working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary plant or manufacturing environment.

Useful experience It would be beneficial if you have experience of: Large-scale Ti O2, chemical or process manufacturing assets.

Acting as a Management of Change signatory or technical authority.

Managing interfaces with external authorities, regulators or specialist engineering bodies.

Developing engineering KPIs for statutory compliance, reliability and asset performance.

Working with specialist contractors on complex repairs, modifications or plant improvement projects.
