Wolviston Management Services are proud to be supporting a highly regulated industrial client in the appointment of an experienced Electrical Technician to join their engineering and maintenance team. Working within a fast-paced industrial setting, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and continuous operation of site electrical infrastructure and systems, supporting overall plant performance and operational uptime.

The Role

As Electrical Technician, you will be responsible for supporting the maintenance, reliability and improvement of a wide range of electrical systems and equipment across site. Working closely with the Maintenance & Engineering team, you will support planned and reactive maintenance activities, fault finding, breakdown response and new equipment commissioning while ensuring full compliance with site safety procedures and engineering standards. This is a hands-on role suited to an electrically biased maintenance professional with strong process industry experience and a proactive approach to safety and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out planned preventative and reactive electrical maintenance activities
  • Supporting the installation, commissioning and testing of new electrical equipment
  • Maintaining HV and LV electrical systems, motor controls, automation systems and safety interlocks
  • Conducting routine inspections, testing and maintenance of critical safety devices
  • Completing hazardous area electrical inspections and repairs
  • Performing preventative maintenance activities including:
    • Thermography
    • UPS health checks
    • Insulation testing
    • Motor condition monitoring
    • Earth bonding checks
  • Responding to electrical breakdowns, fault finding and implementing corrective actions
  • Supporting root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities
  • Completing trip and alarm testing activities
  • Producing and contributing to risk assessments and method statements
  • Updating maintenance records and feedback within the CMMS system
  • Collaborating with operations teams and external contractors to ensure high standards of maintenance delivery
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Time-served Electrical Technician experience within an industrial or process environment
  • Level 3 Electrical qualification or equivalent
  • Experience working with HV & LV systems and VSDs
  • Strong fault finding and problem-solving capability
  • Experience working under Safe Systems of Work including:
    • Permit to Work (PTW)
    • LOTO
    • Management of Change (MOC)
  • Experience within COMAH, hazardous area or heavy industrial environments would be highly advantageous
  • COMPEX certification desirable but not essential
  • Strong understanding of health, safety and compliance standards
  • Good IT skills and experience using CMMS systems
  • Excellent communication and teamworking skills
