- Conduct process testing, experimental design, data analysis, and quality assurance activities to improve epitaxial performance, uniformity, repeatability, and yield.
- Drive continuous improvement across process stability, manufacturability, throughput, and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and external foundry teams to achieve project milestones.
- Drive the development of advanced III–V epitaxy technologies to enable next-generation photonics and semiconductor devices.
- Contribute to technology roadmap activities, IP development, and future semiconductor platform development.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Significant practical experience with MOCVD systems, epitaxial growth processes, and materials characterization.
- Good understanding of equipment design, preventive maintenance, and scrubber systems, as well as analytical tools such as XRD, PL, CL, EL, SEM, and AFM.
- Strong technical foundation in R&D process development and advanced manufacturing environments (e.g., III‑V semiconductors, high‑speed optical communications).
- Ability to interpret complex experimental data, troubleshoot process issues, and drive systematic improvements.
- Excellent teamwork, documentation, and communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Extensive experience with hands-on epitaxy R&D, semiconductor process engineering, or advanced manufacturing environments.
- Proven track record of designing complex DOEs and executing structured experiments in MOCVD systems or related thin-film deposition technologies.
- Experience in failure analysis, defect classification, and quality management techniques/tools.
- Experience in photonics applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD or Master’s degree in a related technical discipline.
- Background in telecommunications-grade or high-reliability laser product development.
- Experience supporting advanced photonics or optical communication applications.
- Experience working with III–V semiconductor technologies in R&D or high‑volume manufacturing involving III–V materials.
- Proven track record in mass production process development, yield improvement, and throughput optimization.
- Awareness of global technology trends and the competitive landscape within III‑V semiconductors and photonics.
- Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese for collaboration with China-based foundries and internal teams.
This role operates within a hybrid working model, combining remote working with regular onsite activity at semiconductor manufacturing and R&D facilities. The position will involve international travel to foundry and technology partners across Europe and China to support process development, project collaboration, manufacturing activities, and technical reviews. Candidates should be comfortable working within cleanroom and semiconductor laboratory environments, as well as highly technical R&D and manufacturing settings with strict process and safety protocols.
