The Assistant Garment Technologist role is an exciting opportunity to play a key part within the Garment Technology team, reporting directly to the Senior Garment Technologist. This is a dynamic, hands-on position where you’ll work closely with Buying and Design teams to bring products to life - from developing detailed technical packs through to fitting garments from prototype stage to pre-production. Alongside supporting core administrative processes, you’ll be instrumental in maintaining and elevating the brand’s quality standards, ensuring every product meets both technical excellence and commercial expectations.
Primary Duties:
- Create technical specifications within PLM outlining requirements for first proto - construction, measurement specification and size grading.
- Use technical knowledge to work alongside Design and Buying to garment engineer product to price point.
- Ensure effective sample management of technical samples for area of ownership - Fit, Wearer Trial and PP.
- Attend CP meetings for areas of ownership to ensure the on-time delivery of product to the consumer.
- Own wearer trial process, including sending out samples and surveys and receiving and chasing responses/ samples.
- Oversee technical product approval as an end-to-end process from Proto to PP in collaboration with cross functional teams and suppliers and directly approve for area of ownership.
- Manage and approve for area of ownership.
- Manage & maintain strong supplier relationships for area of ownership through clear communication and partnership.
- Deliver speed to market technical approval to support test and learn for area of ownership.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of PLM with all required technical information and directly maintain for area of ownership.
- Provide specific sample ordering information to support with invoicing queries from invoice team on ad hoc basis.
- With support from manager, resolve technical product related complaints or issues for area of ownership, in collaboration with cross functional teams, suppliers and mills to correct and agree future actions if required.
- Provide context or additional support on sample invoicing queries from invoice team on ad hoc basis.
- Support seasonal Grading / Fit review to ensure product fit is consistent and improved where needed.
- Owning and scheduling store visits with other technical team members and creating a store report to share to the wider product teams where applicable.
- Support supplier accreditation process to ensure correct permissions are assigned to supply base, balancing risk and workload.
Must Haves:
- 2+ years of experience within the industry.
- Passion for creating high-quality, well-fitting product that supports the brand mission.
- An educational background in pattern cutting, clothing technology or production is preferable but not essential.
- Understanding of garment technology, ideally with an area of responsibility and ability to fit independently.
- Awareness of grade rules, testing compliance and garment construction.
- Proficient in Microsoft office, and ideally with understanding of PLM systems.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Experience with sportswear preferable, but not essential.
