As a Global Trade Specialist you will support the day-to-day execution of regional trade activities and help ensure compliance with import and export regulations. This role is foundational to the success of the global trade function, providing essential operational support, maintaining accurate documentation, and assisting with classification and shipment coordination. By collaborating closely with internal teams and external partners, the Specialist helps maintain smooth and compliant trade flows. This position is crucial in ensuring the timely and accurate movement of goods across borders, thereby reducing delays and supporting the company’s commitment to regulatory integrity and operational excellence.

Primary Duties
  • Execute routine import and export transactions in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
  • Coordinate with the logistics team to ensure timely delivery and customs clearance.
Compliance Monitoring
  • Respond to classification and compliance inquiries from external vendors and customs brokers under the guidance of senior team members; develop knowledge and application of laws and regulations.
  • Help monitor regulatory changes and update internal documentation accordingly.
  • Support basic compliance checks and identify potential issues for review.
Classification Assistance
  • Assist in assigning Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) codes to products under guidance from senior team members.
  • Maintain classification records and support updates to product databases.
  • Collaborate with product teams to gather necessary technical data for classification.
Process Improvement
  • Contribute ideas to improve trade workflows and reduce manual tasks.
  • Assist in testing new systems or tools related to trade operations.
  • Help maintain trackers and reports to monitor operational performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Communicate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and internal departments to resolve shipment issues.
Documentation & Recordkeeping
  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation for all trade transactions.
  • Maintain organized records for audits and compliance reviews.
  • Support document retrieval and reporting for internal and external stakeholders.

Performs other duties as required/assigned by the manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in supply chain management or a related field of business.
  • Prior experience in Logistics, Transportation, or Supply Chain industry. College internship (preferred in Logistics, Transportation, or Supply Chain industry).
  • Communication: Demonstrates clear verbal and written communication with team members and leadership. Effectively presents and explains data to enable understanding and support actionable business insights.
  • Professionalism: Maintains respectful behavior and a positive attitude. Builds and sustains professional relationships with peers, work groups, customers, and supervisors across all levels of the organization. Demonstrates the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Critical thinking: Uses facts, data, business analysis, deductive reasoning, and sound judgment to conclude and make recommendations.
  • Process Improvement: Challenge existing processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Data Interpretation: Reads, interprets, and draws accurate conclusions from technical or business materials.
  • Multi-Tasking & Prioritization: Effectively manages concurrent objectives, projects, and activities, making sound judgments on prioritization and time allocation.
