Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, located at Sir Jack Hayward Training Ground, is seeking an English Tutor to support the Academy’s education programme. This is a casual/variable position scheduled to meet the club’s needs. The role reports to the Head of Education.

Job Purpose

As an English Tutor, you will deliver instruction, support learning, and assess players on English language and English Literature, with a particular focus on GCSE English and KS2 Literacy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, effective lessons tailored to individual players.
  • Ensure timely assessment and feedback on players’ work.
  • Provide progress feedback to parents and school tutors.
  • Liaise with the U9‑16 Education Manager to discuss needs and strengths of players.
  • Co‑plan delivery of large areas of the English curriculum with school tutors where appropriate.
  • Follow and enforce best practice safeguarding policies and procedures, including reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Safeguarding Team and Designated Safeguarding Leads to maintain safeguarding standards.

General Responsibilities

Scope of Job

Deliver GCSE English language and literature teaching across most age ranges from U12‑16, provide bespoke lessons for small groups during training hours, and offer support outside normal training hours as needed.

Person Specification

Knowledge

  • High level knowledge of GCSE English language and English Literature.
  • Good understanding of KS2 Literacy requirements.
  • Solid grasp of safeguarding legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Aware of wellbeing support for children, young people and adults at risk.

Essential Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area.
  • Teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, QTLS, Cert Ed).
  • Outstanding classroom practitioner capable of inspiring staff and students/players.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience delivering in a non‑traditional education environment.
  • Experience delivering remote teaching using suitable software.
  • Experience working with different exam specifications.
  • Clean driving licence and own car.
