We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Finance Manager to join our thriving ecommerce marketplace team. You will lead financial planning, reporting, and analysis activities, ensuring robust financial controls while providing strategic insights to support business growth and decision-making. Working closely with our CFO, this role requires deep expertise in finance and accounting principles, exceptional analytical and management skills, and the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders. This role is open to candidates within a commutable distance of Central London. Our team currently works hybrid 3+ days per week with an office based in Soho.
What You’ll Do:
- Cash Flow & Financial Reporting
- Strategic Cash Flow & Liquidity Management: Lead treasury function by overseeing cash flow forecasting and ensuring sufficient liquidity to support operational requirements and strategic growth initiatives.
- Compliance & Audit: Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors; ensure group-wide adherence to IFRS/UK GAAP and robust internal controls.
- Tax Leadership: Oversee global tax workstreams, including UK Corporation Tax, VAT/GST in the US and EU, and R&D tax credit claims.
- Internal Controls: Be a leader for the design, implementation, and continuous evolution of a robust internal control framework, embedding a culture of accountability and rigorous risk mitigation across all business functions.
- Financial Reporting Owner: Lead the end-to-end production of monthly management accounts and statutory financial statements for our global entities.
- Process Transformation: Design and implement scalable financial processes, automating where optimal, to support rapid business growth.
- People Manager: Responsible for a direct report and controller of the outsource finance function.
Requirements:
- Certification: ACA / ACCA / CIMA Qualified with post-qualification experience.
- Technical Expertise: Robust knowledge of FRS 102 / IFRS and experience managing complex international tax jurisdictions.
- Systems: Advanced Excel skills, proficiency in accounting or ERP systems (e.g., Xero, NetSuite), and experience using AI tools to automate processes (e.g., Claude Code).
- Ethically motivated: Demonstrable interest in ethical business practices and sustainability. One of our core values as a business is fairness.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide meaningful insights, particularly with large data sets.
- Excellent knowledge of accounting software and tools (particularly Xero and Excel).
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping and reporting.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to identify financial issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information in a clear and concise manner to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Comfortable working both collaboratively and solo. Adept at prioritising tasks, and meeting deadlines in a scale-up environment.
- Knowledge of ecommerce marketplace dynamics, industry trends, and key financial metrics is a plus.
- Knowledge of or exposure to global direct and indirect tax would be an advantage.
