This is a full‑time, permanent role for a Senior Social Worker on Wokingham Borough Council’s Adult Social Care Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support clients with complex needs and their carers, working within legal frameworks to assess, review and plan services.
  • Adopt a strengths‑based approach to build respectful working relationships and facilitate person‑centred care.
  • Complete and oversee risk assessments and risk management plans, supporting positive risk‑taking where appropriate.
  • Recognise and support others to identify possible abuse or neglect, making safeguarding enquiries and acting as the Safeguarding Adults Manager for enquiries completed by less experienced colleagues.
  • Chair professional meetings, case conferences and Multi‑Disciplinary Teams.

Candidate Requirements

  • Professional Social Work qualification.
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Full UK driving licence and daily access to a car.
  • Strong knowledge of the legal and professional framework for adult social care.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, supervise and support staff, including managing performance.
  • Experience working alongside commissioning of complex packages, including shared care, is desirable.
