Are you looking for a role with variety and the opportunity to deliver a high standard of service to our residents across the Borough? Would you like to be part of an experienced, enthusiastic, and supportive team? We have an exciting opportunity available for 2 Customer Service Officers, to join us as key members of the Customer Services Team here at Wokingham Borough Council, on a full time, 5-month fixed term contract.

As a Customer Service Officer, you’ll play an important role in supporting the waste service changes taking place in June as part of our new waste contract. We’re looking for an enthusiastic team member with great communication skills who can help, guide, and resolve a wide range of enquiries. We want every interaction with our residents to be as positive and helpful as possible.

You’ll handle enquiries that come in by phone, email, webchat, or in person at our Wokingham office at Shute End. These enquiries will cover a broad range of Council services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the efficient and consistent handling of customer cases, ensuring needs are met and good practice is shared.
  • Help improve the customer journey by understanding needs and contributing to faster, simpler and more responsive services.
  • Promote customer self-service and identify further opportunities to enable it.
  • Manage straightforward customer issues and know when to seek advice from colleagues or specialists, maintaining confidentiality in line with policy and data protection laws.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of processes and procedures, drawing on best practice where appropriate.
