We have an exciting opportunity available for a Climate Emergency Project Officer to join the Climate Emergency Team here at Wokingham Borough Council on a Full-Time (Part-time arrangements will be considered for the right candidate), 24-month Fixed Term Contract. As the Climate Emergency Project Officer, you will provide dedicated project support and leadership on a range of initiatives. You will act as a key point of contact for external and internal stakeholders, helping to ensure strong governance, effective communication and seamless organisation of climate initiatives and priorities. This role sits at the centre of the Climate Emergency Programme, supporting senior leadership to drive forward a complex and high-profile agenda. Working in a fast-paced and politically sensitive environment, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth coordination of activity across multiple partner organisations. With project management responsibilities, you will use sound judgement to prioritise competing demands, manage changing timelines and ensure relevant colleagues are fully briefed. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a wide range of projects to support the delivery of our climate emergency action plan
- Identify and implement initiatives across stakeholder groups
- Deliver a range of projects and activities simultaneously
- Provide advice to internal teams and external organisations around environmental sustainability
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external individuals and teams
Candidate Requirements
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy, diverse and demanding work environment
- Ability to build strong relationships, foster trust and co-operation among colleagues and external partners
- Ability to work without supervision using own initiative
- Knowledge of current national climate change agenda, issues and solutions
- Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders
