The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.
You will report to the Deputy Technical Manager and be responsible for Technicians and casual staff. You will also work closely with the Maintenance Department. You will be responsible for providing technical services including stage, lighting and sound to all stage performances, concerts and related activities within the agreed schedules and budgets for the Rhoda McGaw Theatre.
This role is based at The Ambassadors, Woking comprising of the Rhoda McGaw Theatre, New Victoria Theatre and Nova Cinema. The Rhoda McGaw Theatre caters for Woking's many community groups, societies, semi-professional and professional content. It has a varied programme of entertainment throughout the year including musical theatre, comedy, dance, drama and youth performances. Please note, your role may involve working with children or vulnerable people.
Key Responsibilities- Ensuring the safe and efficient get-in, fit-up and get out of all productions in the Rhoda McGaw Theatre and assisting in this matter in the New Victoria Theatre.
- Ensuring that the storage areas within the Rhoda McGaw Theatre are kept in good order and repair, and that all equipment is accounted for on the departure of each hire.
- Ensuring that all visiting groups are fully aware of all aspects of Health & Safety including the safe systems of work that must be adhered to in order to work safely within the venue.
- Ensure the smooth and safe operation of all staging, lighting and audio equipment located in the Rhoda McGaw Theatre, where necessary training the hirer in how to achieve this.
- To liaise with all user groups to ensure that hirers receive details of the technical facilities available to them for the duration of the hire, and to ensure that facilities they have requested are available and in good working order on their arrival.
- To collate and distribute all relevant information concerning each hire to all departments within the building.
- On completion of a hire, complete the relevant paperwork for the venue administrator in a timely fashion in order for the settlement to be raised.
- When applicable, to assist in running performances. During certain productions this will involve undertaking the duties of a Duty Technician in the Rhoda McGaw Theatre and the New Victoria Theatre.
- When applicable, to act as Board Operator, Sound Operator, Followspot Operator or Stage Crew during performances in the Rhoda McGaw Theatre and the New Victoria Theatre.
- Ensuring that PAT testing and Risk Assessment is carried out on a regular, agreed basis.
- Knowledge/experience in large scale production stagecraft.
- Experience working in various crew positions during theatrical productions.
- Experience liaising with Production Companies.
- Excellent knowledge of Theatre techniques.
- Excellent knowledge of lighting and sound.
- Experience in motivating a team.
- Excellent time keeping.
- IT literate (Word, Excel).
- Proactive approach to work, self-starter with initiative and experience of managing own time effectively.
- Experience of preventative building maintenance.
- Experience within a commercial receiving theatre.
- Significant experience working in a Technical Department in a theatre.
