Fixed term for 1 year

Part Time : 20 hours per week

(over 3 days per week to be agreed)

We are a patient-centred charity that delivers palliative and end of life care to those with advanced life-limiting illnesses, who live in Northwest Surrey. We care for patients and provide support to families and carers in the community as well as in our In-Patient Unit and Well Being Centre at the Hospice.

You will, therefore, be joining a passionate and dedicated team of professionals that make a real difference to the families across Surrey community.

A successful Volunteer Engagement Officer will be:

  • Able to demonstrate experience of working in administrative roles
  • Able to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proficient on digital platforms and managing data.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in verbal and written English skills and be able to communicate effectively with diverse individuals
  • An excellent problem solver
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to work with attention to detail to ensure tasks and projects are executed with a high level of accuracy

A successful candidate will have:

  • A legal right to work in the UK
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A willingness to work flexibly
  • An understanding of the services the Hospice provides
  • A valid driving licence and insured vehicle for business use, or the ability to travel via public transport for external events.

Due to the nature of this role, we are unable to offer hybrid working.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

These include confidential access 24/7 to a helpline and GP service, counselling services and bereavement support.

Enhanced Schemes: including occupational sick pay, maternity, paternity and adoption pay.

Eye Care Vouchers: Specsavers vouchers for annual eye tests and contribution towards glasses if required for screen work.

Flexible Working: We offer flexible working opportunities including working part time depending on the role.

Free Parking: Available in the car park opposite the hospice

On Site Café and Wellbeing Gardens: At the hospice, there’s an-onsite café serving fresh, affordable meals, and you can enjoy our beautifully landscaped gardens lovingly maintained by our volunteer gardeners.

Pension Scheme: Hospice staff can join Royal London with a 4% employer contribution.

Training & Development: We have a dedicated education and training team to support development opportunities across the hospice including apprenticeships, professional qualifications and more.
