The role of a Community Passenger Assistant is to assist drivers with the transportation of vulnerable adults or children to a day centre or school. Applicants will be required to complete PATS & Safeguarding training and assist with securing wheelchairs. The nature of our work will require the candidate to demonstrate an understanding of disability issues and deliver the service with a patient and a level-headed attitude in a responsible reliable and manner. Working Hours – 4 hours per day, split morning and afternoon, escorting children to and from school. Duties: · Assisting drivers with passenger transportation as necessary · Ensuring passenger safety by paying particular attention to their comfort and well-being at all times · Compliance at all times with Surrey County Council’s Code of Conduct for Drivers and Passenger Assistants · Assist the driver in maintaining the vehicle is in clean and tidy condition internally and externally at all times · Maintaining accurate records of passenger journeys and other associated records in co-operation with the driver · Covering annual leave and sickness of other PA’s as required · Carrying out any other duties which may reasonably be required by WCT management Person Specification, experience and qualifications: It is necessary for an applicant to live within Woking, Surrey. · Experience or understanding in working with SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities) children and vulnerable adults · Enjoy working with people, be of a cheerful disposition and a good communicator · Take a flexible approach to working hours · Desire to be part of a team which promote our service and achieve excellence for our users · Respect confidentiality, protect sensitive client information Applicable to Successful applicants: · References will be required · An enhanced DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) will be required · Surrey County Council AIB badge will be required · PATS, Manual handling, First Aid and Safeguarding training will be required We are an equal opportunities employer and ensure that no applicant will receive less favourable treatment on the grounds of gender, age, disability, religion, belief, sexual orientation, marital status, or race, or is disadvantaged by conditions or requirements which cannot be shown to be justifiable. * Company events * Sick pay Schedule: * Day shift * Monday to Friday Work Location: On the road
