Billing and collection of Council Tax is essential at Woking. We invite an enthusiastic professional to join our Council Tax Team as a Revenue Officer on a permanent basis. The Revenue Officer will be part of a team responsible for the billing, collection and recovery of Council Tax and Business Rates. You will be customer focused, empathetic, assertive and confident in communicating both verbally and in writing to deliver successful outcomes for customers and the Council. The team works on a rota basis with a combination of home and office working.
Reporting & Support
Reporting to the Revenues Team Leader, the Revenue Officer will support the Customer Service team by providing advice and support for Council Tax and Business Rates queries and help maintain records to issue bills promptly and accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up new accounts and close old accounts
- Grant exemptions and discounts
- Take payments
- Answer written and verbal enquiries
- Assist in billing and collection activities for Council Tax and Business Rates
Qualifications & Experience Desired:
Experience in a Revenues/Customer Service environment, though not essential; full training provided. Must be flexible, adaptable, and able to learn complex legislation. Ability to converse at ease with customers and provide accurate written and spoken English is essential. An assessment may be required.
