Woking Borough Council is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join the Electoral Services team.

Electoral Services is a challenging and an ever-changing environment and we are looking for a candidate who is motivated, enthusiastic and well organised. A willingness to go that extra mile to meet tight deadlines is key for this role. You will also have clear verbal and written communication skills, and work with a high degree of accuracy. The ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative is also an essential attribute.

The ideal candidate will have a keen interest to develop a career in elections and increase their professional skills. Good knowledge of Individual Electoral Registration and knowing the basics of administering an election is vital for this role. Candidates will also have a positive approach to the challenges of new legal and procedural changes.

During peak periods you will be able to work significant additional hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet demanding deadlines.

The Council offers in return a generous flexi time scheme with the ability to take two flexi days a month, membership of the local government pension scheme, discounted health and leisure membership, plus many more excellent benefits.

Under the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009, this post is politically restricted, and you will be disqualified from being a Councillor, Member of Parliament or Member of the European Parliament. The regulations restrict the post holder from undertaking canvassing on behalf of a political party or a person who is or seeks to be a candidate or speaking to the public at large or publishing any written or artistic work that could give the impression that they are advocating support for a political party.
