Principal Contractor, Glasgow, with sites throughout Scotland across multiple sectors are seeking a skilled, experienced and reliable Contracts Manager to join our growing, hardworking and dedicated team. The ideal candidate will have the responsibility of the planning, procurement and execution of construction projects from inception to completion. With a strong background in site and contracts management, you must possess clear evidence of excellent leadership abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills to ensure that projects are completed safely, to programme, within budget, and to the levels of our exceptional quality standards.
As Contracts Manager you’ll be responsible for the delivery and oversight of multiple construction projects from £100,000 to £3 million. The role will be multifaceted and suit those with a strong technical and commercial background. From motivating, managing and engaging your site team to site inspections, audits and ensuring your projects meet commercial targets, you will play a fundamental role in the successful delivery of these projects. Reporting to the Senior Contracts Manager, you will be heavily involved in client and external stakeholder management. We have a long track record of repeat work with existing clients and are proud of their brand and relationships within their core sectors.
Hours of work: Monday-Friday 8am – 4:30pm
The Ideal candidate will:
- Oversee site operations, project timelines and contract costs.
- Liaise with clients, sub-contractors and regulatory bodies as required.
- Ensure safety compliance and adherence to all relevant statutory and industry standards for the project duration.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation across project execution.
- Mentor and guide onsite staff and office-based members of the contracts team.
- Ensure quality control and adherence to all relevant construction standards and regulations.
- Attend operational meetings with the client as required to discuss performance.
- Monitor contract and team performance providing formal monthly reports to the client and Director, confirming compliance with the requirements of the contract and identifying issues for discussion, future workload, risks and opportunities.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Be a motivated leader with a proven track record in management of construction projects.
- A strong background in construction with NVQ Level 6 or above or Honours Degree in a Construction based subject.
- Be an experienced Construction or Contracts Manager able to evidence successful project delivery of significant scale.
- Have an eye for detail and strive for accuracy and quality control.
- Have a conscientious and detailed approach to work.
- Possess strong communication skills and be able to think on their feet.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, staff and project stakeholders.
- Display natural leadership skills, able to get the best out of their team whilst developing their own skillset.

- Ability to utilise MS Office packages including Excel and MS Project.
- Hold an SMSTS qualification, CSCS gold card and full clean driving licence.
