As a Design Engineer you will provide support to Project Engineers in delivering the technical element of the design. We operate with small, flexible, project teams and as such there will also be opportunities from the start to liaise with other professionals and clients.
You should have a Civil or Structural Engineering degree and have spent sufficient time working in industry to be experienced and competent in producing calculations to Eurocodes in steelwork, concrete, timber and masonry. Experience of design of civil engineering elements (underground drainage, highways etc) would be welcome.
Additionally, you should be an excellent communicator and team worker, eager to develop, have good time management skills, and be committed to providing a high quality service to our clients. You should have sound technical writing skills, be able to draft reports, and the ability to sketch up basic details to convey structural requirements.
You should be developing some commercial awareness, considering wider aspects of the project and site, and forming an understanding of the various Construction procurement routes. You should be Chartered with the IStructE or ICE, or working towards Chartership. As an SME we do not operate an accredited training programme, however we are committed to your development and will support you to work towards Chartered Engineer status, if you do not already have this.
WML are a close team with a core of committed staff. There are opportunities for the right person to progress to more senior roles within the business.
