Worcestershire County Council is a friendly and supportive legal team providing a high-quality service. We need to recruit a team leader role in our Commercial Law Team. This role supports the contentious work of the wider team’s functions but it is not pure litigation. An important element of the role is dealing with disputes arising from the Council’s highways and planning functions. The role would also cover work relating to gypsies and travellers, and litigation, such as property and contractual disputes, so would develop strong experience of contentious local government work. Also important is supporting decision‑making governance. Experience in these areas is an advantage but could be developed in the role as there is a supportive and knowledgeable team. The role would also involve non‑contentious work and would suit someone who enjoys solving a range of issues whilst growing skills in an area of expertise. Experience of management would be an advantage as this position includes leading a small team, but this would be an opportunity for step‑up candidates.
Benefits:
- Great Holiday Entitlement: 26 days paid holiday (pro rata for part‑time staff), increasing to 31 days after 5 years.
- Brilliant Pension Scheme: The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) is a valuable part of the pay and reward package.
- Professional Learning & Development: We actively encourage learning and development for all our staff.
- Flexible Working: We offer hybrid working to provide a better work/life balance where possible.
The County Council is committed to equality of opportunity for all citizens and celebrates the diversity of all its residents.
