We are expanding our Young Adult Learning (YAL) provision and are seeking enthusiastic sessional staff to deliver Hair and/or Beauty within Study Programmes for learners aged 16–24.
About the Provision
Hair and Beauty is primarily delivered within employment-focused Young Adult Learning Study Programmes, designed to support learners to develop the skills, confidence and behaviours needed for adulthood and the workplace. All YAL learners work towards an accredited qualification embedded within their wider programme. At Level 1, learners achieve a qualification in Skills for Education, Training and Personal Development (SETPD). This includes subject‑specific Hair and/or Beauty units, alongside core units in personal development, employability and preparing for adulthood. Delivery typically takes place in a salon‑style learning environment, enabling learners to develop practical, work‑related skills in a realistic setting. Learners may then progress to industry‑recognised qualifications such as VTCT, supporting progression into employment, apprenticeships or further learning. Our Hair and Beauty curriculum also includes an established adult (19+) offer, delivering VTCT Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications. There may also be opportunities to contribute to this provision, supporting delivery alongside the existing team. Many of our learners have experienced disrupted education and may have a range of additional needs, including social, emotional and mental health challenges. Through small group sizes, a flexible curriculum and strong pastoral support, we create a safe and engaging environment where learners can thrive.
About the Roles
- Tutors – £14.82 per hour: Plan and deliver high‑quality Hair and/or Beauty sessions, primarily within YAL provision, supporting learners to achieve their SETPD qualification and develop practical and employability skills.
- Senior Tutors – £16.35 per hour: Alongside teaching, contribute to curriculum planning, quality improvement and the mentoring of colleagues.
