Role Overview

Join the City of Wolverhampton Council waste team as a Waste Engagement Officer. In this 2‑year fixed‑term role you will work within the Waste Services department to boost recycling participation, reduce waste and encourage sustainable behaviours across the city.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work directly with a variety of stakeholders across the city to develop and deliver innovative engagement activities tailored to different audiences.
  • Use data and customer feedback to identify priority geographical areas and population groups, target interventions and measure progress to demonstrate impact.
  • Deliver presentations to large audiences and engage residents in recycling and sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Full, valid UK driving licence, ability to drive Council vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes.
  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Customer Services or Communications qualification or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Hands‑on experience working in varied environments – office, recycling centres, transfer station, schools and community locations.
  • Strong interest in recycling, sustainability and positive behaviour change.
  • Adaptable, creative, able to work independently and as part of a team.
