City of Wolverhampton Council has been selected as one of three local authorities that are Wave 1 Pathfinders in response to the publication of Stable Homes Built on Love, the Department for Education’s bold and ambitious implementation strategy for change within children’s social care. As part of this, Wolverhampton will launch a Multi‑Agency Child Protection Team (MACPT), a city‑wide team of 16 Lead Child Protection Practitioners responsible for all children open to child protection planning and all new child protection enquiries. The Team Manager will be the direct line manager and hold responsibility for all child protection and pre‑proceeding work with children and their families.

Responsibilities
- Ensure the provision of a high quality and effective social work service to meet the needs of children and their families, safeguarding children in a timely manner within statutory guidelines.
- Represent the service within multi‑agency forums and contribute to the development of policy and practice in Children’s Services across the city.
- Ensure the social work service is fully integrated within the wider Children’s Services to promote positive outcomes for children and their families.
- Provide effective leadership within the service, taking responsibility, being accountable and motivating staff within the team.
- Act as a champion for restorative practice within the service.

- Interview schedule: week commencing 22nd June 2026.
- Annual pay increases for 2026/27 will be negotiated under the NJC Pay Award and are effective from 1 April 2026.
