An exciting opportunity to join the City of Wolverhampton Public Health Team, where two fixed-term Public Health Specialist positions are available:

  • 12-month Fixed Term Senior Public Health Specialist – This post will cover maternity leave and focuses on the Children and Young People’s portfolio and contributing to Public Health policy and strategy development within The City of Wolverhampton Council.
  • Senior Public Health Specialist – Salary £44,075 - £49,282 (Grade 7); Hours 37; Contract type as above. The role supports Public Health initiatives, commissioning of services, and works with partners to influence plans, with a focus on the Children and Young People’s portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Under the guidance of the Principal Public Health Specialist, design, deliver, monitor and evaluate programmes of work in partnership with key stakeholders to promote health and wellbeing of City residents.
  • Develop and deliver Public Health initiatives; input into commissioning of services; work with partners to support and influence plans.
  • Provide specialist technical expertise and training on research, evidence, data analysis and interpretation, policy development, and evaluation as part of a Business Partner approach.
  • Evident extensive experience in partnership working and influencing, critical appraisal and synthesis of evidence, data analysis, and presenting to diverse audiences; project management experience is required.
  • Understand the wider determinants of health and the impact of inequality and exclusion on health and wellbeing (highly desirable).

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Experience in partnership working, influencing, critical appraisal, and synthesis of evidence; ability to inform decision making with data.
  • Ability to produce presentations for a range of audiences and manage projects.
  • A thorough understanding of the wider determinants of health and the impact of inequality on health and wellbeing is highly desirable.
