Responsibilities
The primary focus of this position is the end‑to‑end processing of Private Hire Operator licence applications, from receipt and validation through to final issue, ensuring all applications fully comply with the requirements of City of Wolverhampton Council. You will play a critical role in maintaining standards, ensuring accuracy, and supporting a robust and compliant licensing service. In addition, you will act as a key point of expertise within the team, offering guidance, sharing technical knowledge, and supporting Licensing Officers in their day‑to‑day work. While there are no direct line management responsibilities, you will take ownership of processes, help drive consistency, and contribute to the smooth running of the service, as well as support wider Senior Licensing Officer functions, including hearings and operator‑related work.
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong knowledge of licensing legislation and procedures
- Proven experience in Private Hire and Hackney Carriage Licensing
- Confidence in supporting and guiding colleagues
- A proactive and organised approach to managing busy workloads
- Excellent communication and IT skills
- A keen eye for detail and commitment to accuracy
