Role Overview
City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking a Political Advisor. The main purpose of this role is to undertake administrative and research duties for the Leader of the Conservative Group, Portfolio Holders and Lead Members.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Leader with casework.
- Develop links with local Members of Parliament, the WMCA Mayoral Office and other holders of political office, and attend Council meetings, including Full Council, Cabinet and Scrutiny Meetings.
- Establish contacts with other organisations, institutions and Local Authorities to keep abreast of new policy and research development.
- Perform administrative and research tasks as required by the Leader, Portfolio Holders and Lead Members.
Qualifications
- Interest in Local Government is essential.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Substantial experience of administrative and research work within a customer‑orientated organisation.
- Educated to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- Motivation and alignment with the principles and values of the Conservative Party.
Working Arrangements
Flexible work style: Employee can work from home or any council office, partner, client or external location as required.
Benefits
Salary: £36,363 to £40,777 per annum (Grade 6).
Contract: Temporary until 1 August 2027.
Hours: 37 hours per week.
