The Participation of children, young people and adults in the City of Wolverhampton is a key priority of the council. This is supported by the youth and adult voice forums which consists of:

  • HY5!
  • Families on Board
  • The Children in Care Council
  • The Care Leavers Independent Collective Forum
  • Adult Voice and Choice
  • The Guardians Parent Panels

The City of Wolverhampton Council is looking to recruit a full‑time Participation Officer to support the associated youth and adult voice forums. This role will include working evenings, some weekends, and requires flexible hours in response to the needs of the service.

Responsibilities:

  • Amplify the views and opinions of children, young people, adults, families, and carers to inform changes in service delivery, influence service design, and shape strategies for adult, children, young people, and family services.
  • Develop clear arrangements to regularly share the views of participants.

Qualifications:

  • Evidence of working effectively with groups of adults, children and young people.
  • Sound knowledge of issues related to adult and children and family services.
  • Knowledge and experience of using different consulting methods with diverse groups and communities.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Engagement of users and carers in service planning and delivery of activities.
  • Ability to operate within a performance management framework.
  • Experience working in multicultural communities.

Interview Process:

A presentation will be required as part of the interview process.

Pay and Benefits:

Grade 5 – £30,024 – £33,699. Pay increases for 2026/27 are negotiated and will be effective from 1 April 2026.

Working Arrangements:

Roles may be fixed, field or flexible. Some positions are agile, allowing employees to maximise performance and maintain a healthy work‑life balance. Fixed‑style roles work in a permanent council location. Field‑style roles require community presence. Flexible‑style roles allow a mix of home and council or external locations.
