City of Wolverhampton Council – Newly Qualified Social Worker (Adult Social Care). Salary - £36,363 - £40,777 (Grade 6). Hours - 37 hours per week. Workstyle - Field. Contract type – 13-month fixed term contract. 2 positions available. These roles will be within the Aging Well service.

We invite applications from newly qualified social workers for vacancies in the above team. You will:

  • Be dedicated to working directly with people with care and support needs and carers to ensure that their voices are heard, and they are supported to live their idea of a good life
  • Know relevant legislation, as well as key social work models and theories
  • Be analytical, and have strong assessment and negotiation skills
  • Be committed to making a difference and using strengths-based approaches
  • Be enthusiastic to work with colleagues and use evidence-based approaches
  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Have excellent time management and IT skills
  • Be Social Work England registered (or be in a position to be registered by September 2026)

A Social Work CPD / Career Pathway which will support you to progress and develop. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Interview Process

As part of the interview process, you will be required to undertake:

  • A written exercise
  • A panel interview

Written exercises and formal panel interviews will take place on Thursday 25th June 2026 and Friday 26th June 2026. Written exercises will be held individually just prior to the formal panel interview.
