City of Wolverhampton Council seeks an experienced and proactive Education Welfare Officer to support the Attendance Team in encouraging education engagement of young people within Wolverhampton. The postholder will support the attendance offer to schools, ensuring duties around attendance are carried out effectively, working collaboratively with families, schools and partner agencies.

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Be self‑motivated and work on initiative within a fast‑moving team, within statutory frameworks
  • Have experience and knowledge of legal processes and relevant legislation relating to school attendance, children missing education and children not in full‑time education
  • Be able to demonstrate understanding and application of guidance regarding school attendance, children missing education and children not in full‑time education
  • Develop excellent working relationships with schools, families and partner agencies
  • Work independently as well as part of a team
  • Provide support and challenge where needed

DBS check required for this role.
