City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Team Manager to join our Safeguarding service within Adult Social Care. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement across the city.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct line management, supervision and coaching to safeguarding staff.
  • Support the Team Manager in managing workflow, demand and risk in line with the Care Act 2014, multi‑agency and internal safeguarding policy and guidance.
  • Champion strengths‑based, person‑centred practice and ensure safeguarding interventions are timely and effective.
  • Develop and support the team in priority areas such as self‑neglect, safe care at home, closed cultures and transitional safeguarding.
  • Represent the service at meetings and deputise for the Team Manager when required, including attendance at MAPPA, MARAC and Channel.
  • Work collaboratively with partners across health, housing and voluntary sectors to achieve the best outcomes for adults.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Social Work England registered Social Worker with significant post‑qualification experience.
  • Proven experience in complex social work with adults, families and carers, including safeguarding adults and systemic interventions.
  • Strong management and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Human Rights Act 1998.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
