Codsall Middle School requires three new 1:1 Teaching Assistants.

Post details:

  • Post 1 – Maternity cover 32.5 hours per week. Start ASAP.
  • Post 2 – Maternity cover 13 hours per week (days can be negotiated). Start ASAP.
  • Post 3 – Fixed term connected to Pupil funding 32.5 hours per week. Start ASAP.

These roles work with pupils as 1:1 or small group to deliver outcomes within EHCPs, supporting learning under guidance of Teachers, SENCo and Head of School.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide pastoral support and attend to pupils’ personal needs, promoting social, health and hygiene development.
  • Support pupils with additional needs through 1:1 mentoring and tailored interventions.
  • Assist teachers in implementing Individual Education and Behaviour Plans.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, behaviour and attendance.
  • Support pupils’ access to learning using appropriate strategies and resources.
  • Liaise with parents/carers and external professionals to foster strong home‑school links.
  • Always promote and safeguard the welfare of children.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience supporting children’s learning in an educational setting.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants (or equivalent experience).
  • Understanding of SEN and relevant policies/codes of practice.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and use initiative.
  • Effective use of ICT to support learning.
  • Friendly, professional and respectful approach.
  • Open, honest and committed to pupil welfare.
  • Adaptable, enthusiastic and proactive with a ‘can‑do’ attitude.
