Birches First School, Codsall are looking for a dedicated 1-2-1 and small group support Teaching Assistant. We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for children with special educational needs at our welcoming first school. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to children’s learning and development within our supportive school community, part of Codsall Multi Academy Trust.
The Role at a Glance
- Position: 1-2-1, Small group support Teaching Assistant – KS1
- Location: Birches First School
- Salary: Grade 4, Point 5: £25,583 (FTE)
- Hourly rate: £13.26 per hour
- Hours: 20 hours per week, Term Time only including Teacher training days
- Contract: 1 Year fixed term contract with possibility of extension
- Start Date: 13th April 2026
About The Role
As a 1-2-1 and small group Teaching Assistant in our Year 2 classroom, you will:
- Support children's learning and development through engaging activities
- Work collaboratively with our experienced KS1 team to create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment
- Help children develop their social, emotional, and academic skills
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues to ensure the pupil thrives
- Contribute to planning and assessment to meet individual children's needs

Essential What We’re Looking For
- Ability to adapt learning and planning to meet a child's specific needs
- Skills in assessment and recording progress
- Willingness to undertake personal care needs if required
- Excellent communication skills with children, parents, colleagues and external agencies
- Ability to establish strong working relationships with teachers, SENCo and outside agencies
- Experience of managing SEND-related behaviours
- Understanding of ASD and its effects on behaviour and communication
- Commitment to supporting families and building strong home-school partnerships
Desirable
- NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent
