Role Overview
Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking to appoint someone to implement our play & wellness strategies, support families in ready‑to‑learn workshops, and act as a mentor in school starting September 2026.
Responsibilities
- Be patient, calm, open-minded and serve as a positive role model to children and families.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, encouraging responsibility, resilience and positive behaviour choices.
- Work with parents and carers, building strong relationships.
- Work with the team to create safe spaces where young people feel heard and understood, while empowering parents and carers to strengthen relationships.
- Demonstrate a genuine passion for inclusion and working with children & families to promote readiness for school, wellness and play.
- Contribute to the afterschool activities programme, including family forest sessions.
- Help children re‑engage with learning through innovative, creative programmes and interventions using the outdoor space, forest therapies and play.
- Understand the importance of time and places to play and the impact on a child’s development.
- Commit to working as part of a team and sharing good practice.
- Maintain a positive outlook, be approachable and possess good communication skills.

Details
Hours: 37 hours per week, term time only + 2 weeks.
Grade: Band D SCP 9‑17, £27,255 – £31,022 per annum pro rata.
Location: All Saints C of E Primary School, Wilford Road, West Bromwich, West Midlands, B71 1QN.
Contract: Permanent.
