About This Role

George Salter Academy is seeking to appoint an ambitious, values‑driven and highly skilled Assistant Principal for Inclusion (SENDCo) to join the Senior Leadership Team in September 2026. This is a pivotal role for a leader who believes passionately in inclusion and is committed to ensuring that every young person, regardless of need or starting point, can succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the strategic development and day‑to‑day management of SEND and inclusion across the academy
- Fulfilling the statutory duties of the SENDCo in line with the SEND Code of Practice
- Overseeing provision for students with SEND needs and those requiring additional or alternative support
- Ensuring high‑quality, inclusive teaching and learning through staff training, coaching and support
- Working closely with pastoral leaders, families and external agencies to remove barriers to learning
- Using data and evaluation to monitor impact and drive continuous improvement
- Contributing to whole‑school leadership, self‑evaluation and improvement planning as a member of SLT
