Tamworth Borough Council is seeking a Head of Community Safety & Partnerships to lead initiatives aimed at improving outcomes for residents across the borough. You will work closely with elected members, senior officers, Staffordshire Police, health partners, voluntary sector organisations, and regional bodies to develop effective responses to local issues and emerging challenges.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in leading community safety, housing, partnership, community development, or related services at a senior level. A track record of delivering strategic outcomes through partnership working, managing complex budgets, commissioning services, influencing policy, and driving service improvement is essential.
The role requires an excellent understanding of community safety issues, anti-social behaviour, environmental crime, safeguarding, partnership governance, and relevant legislation. Knowledge of housing enforcement, Renters' Rights legislation, Awaab's Law, and wider regulatory functions would be advantageous.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication and leadership skills who can inspire and motivate teams, build productive partnerships, and represent the Council confidently at local, regional, and national forums. You will be highly organised, politically aware, and able to manage complex and sensitive issues while maintaining a strong focus on achieving positive outcomes for communities.
You will be responsible for the management of external and internal budgets, performance management arrangements, and governance frameworks, ensuring statutory functions are delivered effectively and in accordance with legal requirements and Council policies.
The duties of this role include a requirement to take part in an on-call rota, approximately six times per year. This is a home working contract, with the majority of duties carried out at home; however, employees will be contractually required to attend site on two days per month for team meetings, 121 meetings, etc. Site attendance will constitute no more than 40% of working time.
