Exhall Grange Specialist School is a specialist educational facility located at Easter Way, Ash Green, Coventry. The Warwickshire Vision Support Service, operating on behalf of Warwickshire County Council, leads and manages specialist support services for children with visual impairments from birth to 25 years in homes, early years, schools and colleges.
We are seeking to recruit a Qualified Teacher of the Vision‑Impaired (QTVI) on a full‑time contract to start as soon as possible. Compensation will be TMS or UPS plus a midpoint SNA allowance depending on qualifications. Suitably experienced teachers who do not hold the mandatory V.I. qualification can apply and, if successful, will receive TMS or UPS plus a low‑point SNA allowance until qualified. They must be prepared to undertake the V.I. teachers' qualification. Mileage allowance is £45 per mile.
Responsibilities:
- Manage your own caseload and receive regular supervision from the line manager.
- Provide peripatetic teaching support, training and advice to children and young people with a visual impairment, parents/carers, educational and other professionals across a variety of settings.
- Offer tailored advice and support for staff working with visually impaired learners.
- Forge good relationships with key partners and parents/carers.
- Make clear, targeted recommendations to schools and placements through assessment and observation.
- Conduct functional vision assessments.
- Travel throughout the county, requiring a licence vehicle owner with business insurance.

- Excellent practitioner with up‑to‑date skills.
