You will spend the majority of your time out on site to maximise income from rent payments and other charges, balancing the need to recover rent/charges owed to Warwick District Council, whilst supporting our tenants to remain in their homes by providing expert advice and financial inclusion, agreeing suitable payment arrangements for those who have fallen into arrears.
You will therefore work proactively with our tenants to support them through welfare reform ,personal crisis and debt taking ownership of accounts whilst visiting customers in their homes.
This role also represents Warwick District Council in court when pursuing legal action for the recovery of rent arrears and will be responsible for producing the court bundle prior to court attendance.
We have two vacancies one part time vacancy for an Income Recovery Officer, working 15 hours per week 2 Year Fixed Term, and one Permanent Full-time post. If you are an experienced income recovery officer with significant experience in the recovery of rent arrears and other housing related charges, wanting to work reduced hours, this is the perfect role for you. In order to apply, you will need the following skills, experience & abilities:
Excellent numerical skills
The ability to communicate with people from different backgrounds
Excellent record keeping
The ability to write clear reports and prepare court documents
Attention to detail
The ability to show empathy and provide support to vulnerable clients
Experience of case management
Housing management experience and knowledge
Experience recovering rent arrears and representation in court
Substantial experience of interpreting and understanding complex housing legislation including but not limited to; Housing Act 1996, Protection from Eviction Act 1977, the Pre-Action Protocols for Possession claims by Social Landlords, TORTS Act 1977 and Practice Direction 55A for Possession claim
Experience of providing support to vulnerable people with complex needs.
A minimum of 2 years’ experience of managing customer accounts and working on a face to face basis with customers in difficult situations.
The role wits within our Landlord Operations team who are a multi disciplined team who manage Warwick District Council tenancies, providing specialist support to help our tenants sustain their tenancies ands thrive in their local communities.
The intention is for the postholder to work predominately from home however, it is a requirement to attend our offices or sites within Warwick District as required. Any costs for travel from home to the office will be met by the successful candidate. However, hybrid and office working is also available.
