Role Overview

The Civic & Committee Services Team provides essential support for the Council in the delivery of formal Council, Cabinet and Committee meetings, ensuring they are conducted lawfully and in line with the Council’s Constitution. The team also provides support to Councillors, including member development and training, and supports the Chair of the Council with civic functions. This is a new role working alongside the Civic & Committee Services Manager, with a commitment to further increase resources within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage evening Council, Cabinet and Committee meetings.
  • Line‑manage the team and oversee governance of meetings.
  • Provide professional advice and support to elected Members and officers.
  • Manage contracts within the team and coordinate other leadership roles across the Service Area and the Council.

Qualifications

  • Degree level education in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum five years of democratic services experience within local government.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing or supervising staff within an operational service area.

Working Conditions

Hours: 24 hours per week, fixed‑term contract for two years. The postholder may work from home, but is required to attend the office or sites within Warwick District as needed; travel costs to the office will be met by the council.
