Alumwell Infant School is seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic SEND Teacher to join our team. From September 2026, this is a permanent full-time role (part-time considered).
Salary: Teachers’ Main Pay Scale / Upper Pay Scale (plus SEN allowance where applicable).
Location: Alumwell Infant School, Walsall.
Start date: September 2026.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver and evaluate high-quality teaching and learning for pupils with SEND and EHCPs.
- Lead provision within the Nurture Hubs in line with EHCP outcomes and individual support plans.
- Create a nurturing, safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor, assess and record pupil progress, using this information to inform next steps.
- Work in partnership with parents/carers, the SENDCo and external professionals.
- Contribute to EHCP annual reviews and multi-agency meetings.
- Provide guidance and direction to support staff working within the provision.
- Promote inclusion and support pupils’ reintegration into mainstream classes where appropriate.
- Ensure safeguarding, health and safety and behaviour policies are implemented at all times.
Person Specification:
Essential criteria:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience of teaching pupils with special educational needs, including EHCPs.
- Knowledge of EYFS and Key Stage 1 curriculum.
- Understanding of inclusive and adaptive teaching strategies.
- Ability to manage behaviour using a calm, nurturing approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to equality, diversity and safeguarding.
Desirable criteria:
- SEND qualification or specialist SEND training.
- Experience of nurture provision or SEMH support.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice.
- Experience of working with external agencies.
