Walsall Council is seeking a Residential Childcare Worker (Ref: CH01126).
Salary: G6: £31,537 – £34,434 (plus 5% enhancement for unsociable hours and additional payments for sleeping in duties) (pro rata for part-time post). Qualified starting salary: £32,597. Unqualified starting salary: £31,537. 1 full-time 37-hour post and 1 part-time 21-hour post.
Location: Various homes across the borough of Walsall, to be determined on appointment.
About the role: We are looking for people who have some experience of working with children in any setting to join our Children’s Residential Services within Walsall. This role requires you to be resilient, resourceful, enthusiastic and motivated to be a positive influence on our children. All successful candidates will be expected to work as part of a team that provides 24/7 on a rota basis. These shift patterns may vary across the service, but they will include working weekdays, weekends, bank holidays and sleeping-in duties (additional payment).
Responsibilities: As a Residential Childcare Worker, you will be involved in providing direct care for children and expected to engage with children and their families and be highly ambitious in helping them to achieve positive outcomes. Our focus is directed towards a child-centred approach where we actively promote children’s rights. We deliver our services in safe personalised small group homes where the care is aimed at supporting children’s welfare.
Qualifications: Qualified candidates will hold a level three/four qualification in children’s residential care or equivalent. We also encourage applications from unqualified candidates who can demonstrate some experience whether this be employed or voluntary who have a passion for working with children.
